TROGAMID® T—Polyamide 6-3-T

Low shrinkage

The chemical constitution of TROGAMID® T, which is produced from terephthalic acid and 2,2,4- /2,4,4-trimethylhexamethylene diamine, gives the polymer its amorphous structure. In contrast to Evonik's semicrystalline high-performance polymers, it is transparent. The transparency is retained even for layers of relatively high thickness. Its light transmission in the visible wavelength range is 90%. Moreover, the amorphous structure results in low processing shrinkage and little tendency to warp.

TROGAMID® T compounds are distinguished by the following properties:

  • high transparency, high light transmission
  • high mechanical strength
  • high heat deflection temperature
  • high toughness
  • good chemical resistance compared with other plastics
  • good electrical properties
  • low processing shrinkage

A number of specially finished molding compounds are available in addition to the basic products. The product range allows a large variety of applications and meets various requirements profiles.

TROGAMID® T5000, the basic product, is a permanently transparent polyamide for injection molding, extrusion, and blow molding. It contains no additives.

TROGAMID® T5002, TROGAMID® T5004, and TROGAMID® TX7389 are permanently transparent compounds for injection molding, extrusion, and blow molding. TROGAMID® T5002 and TROGAMID® TX7389 contain an internal mold release agent, with TROGAMID® TX7389 having better flow and mold-release behavior.
TROGAMID® T5004 is UV-stabilized and therefore has improved outdoor weathering resistance.

TROGAMID® T-GF35 contains 35% glass fibers. This amorphous polyamide is suitable for rigid, low-warpage moldings. If it is mixed with TROGAMID® T5000, the resulting moldings have lower glass-fiber content, in accordance with the specific application and the required property profile.
